Weapons Classes
Okinawan Kobudo, Machimura
Ito ryu, Advincula's Combat Escrima and Chinese Sword and Sabre.
The weapons class covers a wide range of area of
study. Okinawan kobudo is the study of old Okinawan weapons.
This includes the staff (bo), sai, Tuifa (tonfa), eku (kai) and kama's. We
practice basics, traditional Okinawan kata or forms, two man drills
and sparring.
The Machimura Ito Ryu is a Samurai
sword system developed by master Ronald Lindsey during his study of
the sword during his 40 plus years of practice. This system covers
Iaijitsu and Kenjitsu. We practice basics, kata and two person drills.
Some of this class is done with real swords.
Master
Advincula developed his system, Advincula's combat Escrima, from his
60 years of study. He was also a U.S. Marine hand to hand and
weapons instructor. In class we practice with sticks with an
eye to using edged weapons. This class uses single stick, double stick,
knife, sword and dagger and the double sword.
The Chinese sword and sabre come from my study
of Taiji. We practice the 13 section sabre, the 67 section straight
sword, Sam Masich's two man sword, two man sword drills and sparring.
